The Host’s Playbook: May Edition
May is a month of gathering — fuller calendars, longer evenings, and more reasons to open your door.
If April felt like easing into the season, May feels like living in it. There’s less time to overthink and more opportunities to say yes.
If you’ve been thinking about hosting, this is the time to lean into it. It doesn’t have to be complicated — I’ll be sharing a few easy ways to make it feel natural and doable.
As a host, I’m thinking less about building something from scratch and more about making it easy to gather. I am using what I have and simplifying where I can, while focusing on what actually makes a moment feel good.
This month, I’m sharing a mix of ideas that reflect that shift — hosting that feels more relaxed and more doable:
Mother’s Day
This year, I’m not hosting.
And that shift has changed how I’m thinking about the day—what I actually want it to feel like, and what matters most when I’m not the one managing everything.
Casual Gatherings
I’ll share simple ways to bring people together without overthinking it—leaning into gatherings that feel easy to pull together but still feel intentional.
Simple Celebrations
I’m thinking about how to mark moments in a way that still feels special, while keeping the focus on what actually matters.
Preparing Your Home for Guests
Not everything needs to be a full refresh.
This month, I’m focusing on the spaces guests move through—like the guest bathroom—and how small updates can change the way a home feels.
I’ll also be sharing more in real time—the small moments, what I’m noticing, and how things come together as the month unfolds.
If April was about intention, May is about ease — finding ways to gather more often with a little less effort, and a lot more presence.
